Malcolm joined the Rancho Santa Fe Youth Soccer organization 14 years ago as the Director of Coaching.He is one of the most well-known and respected soccer coaches in southern California.In his youth he played internationally for England on the U19 team.He came to the US in the early 80′s on a soccer scholarship at SDSU where he earned his BA degree with a double major in Social Studies and Physical Education.He has his California teaching credential and also holds a lifetime teaching credential from Keele University, England, in the same subjects.He also holds a national USSF “A” level coaching license.
Coach Tovey brought his winning formula to Rancho in 1997 after 13 years at the Surf Soccer Club as their coaching director. During his career he has coached teams that have won State and National Championships, as well as major tournaments that include Surf Cup, Nomads Invitational, Huntington Beach, Pleasanton and many more.He has also been successful, through his network of connections, to place players in colleges such as Yale, Dartmouth, UCSD, Naval Academy, Fullerton, SDSU, UC Santa Cruz, Point Loma Nazarene, UC Davis, Sonoma State, and the Mexican National Team.
He is currently the Varsity Boys Soccer coach at The Bishop’s School in La Jolla and is the Physical Education teacher at the Nativity School in Rancho Santa Fe. Malcolm with happily tell anyone, “I am coaching youth soccer because it is the most fun, challenging and rewarding job in the world.”

Coach Barker has been coaching youth soccer for 27 years both here in the US and in England. He has been with Attack for 12 years and previously was with the Surf Soccer Club, the Escondido Earthquakes, North County Alliance and the Burnley Football Club Youth Program in England.He has his USSF “D” license and is a licensed Referee.
His stated philosophy is to “develop each player and have them achieve their fullest potential as an individual and as a team player.”His goal is to motivate and challenge each player mentally and physically both on and off the field so that they become smart players with a better understanding of the game.

Coach Beyer has been coaching youth soccer for 10 years, the last six of those with Attack. Prior to that he coached with Encinitas Express and at the high school level with Santa Fe Christian.He has a NSCAA National Diploma and USSF National “B” license.His collegiate playing experience was at the University of Evansville where he was an All-American.He has played professionally with the K.C. Comets, Philadelphia Kixx, San Diego Sockers and Grantham Town FC in England.
As a coach, Shawn would like to see each player achieve their fullest potential as a soccer player, individually and as a team member. His goal is to always lead a challenging and engaging training session that requires effort, always focusing on positive reinforcement.With his teams he likes to encourage family participation, team building and sportsmanship.

Coach Bullock comes to Attack with more than 8 years of coaching experience with Manchester Soccer Club, Poway Vaqueros and RBYSA where he won numerous tournaments and 2 Presidio League titles with his teams. He holds a USSF National “D” coaching license and played Division 1 Football for Temple University.
Coach Sean specializes in speed and conditioning training. His coaching philosophy is to teach young players the fundamentals of the game, as well as, life lessons both on and off the pitch. He uses a structured coaching style, but makes it fun with skills development and a primary focus on fitness. His motto is, “want better, do better, get better!”

This will be Coach Coughlin’s third season with the Attack program. Prior to this he was with PQ Premier for 12 years as the Assistant Director. He is currently the Varsity Boys Head Coach at Westview High School where he is also a teacher. He has held this position for 9 years. Martin played professionally for the Glasgow Celtic F.C. for 5 years and prior to that he was in the US National/OPD team pool and played Club soccer for Pegasus, Nomads and Surf.
Coach Coughlin’s goal is to make the competitive soccer experience as rewarding as possible for all participants, giving his players an added love for the game while teaching them lifelong values, such as sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability and respect.

Coach Deleon comes to Attack with 9 years of coaching youth competitive soccer, most recently with CV Manchester where she has coached for the last 3 years. She has also coached at the high school level at Canyon Crest Academy where she was the head Varsity coach. Fay played collegiate soccer at San Diego State University for four years where she was voted Soccer Buzz Freshman All American. She currently plays semi-professionally for the San Diego Sealions, where she was voted Player of the Week. Fay holds a USSF National D license.
As a coach, Fay encourages young girls to be a part of the team and to grow as a player and a teammate. She wants to instill the love for the game by playing with enthusiasm and creativity. She also knows you need to have the tools to play good soccer so by teaching the fundamentals she can get the girls where they want to go. Coach Deleon encourages girls to take one thing that they learn from each practice to begin to build their foundation to play good soccer.

Coach Dougherty joined Attack in 2008. He currently holds a USSF National “A” license and his teams have won numerous tournaments, including Surf Cup, State Cup, Regional and US Club Soccer National Championships.He has played professionally in the English Premier League, for the MLS, for the Major Indoor Soccer League and the Continental Indoor Soccer League where he was as MVP.

Coach Hansford is starting his first season with Attack after having coached for Lightning Soccer Club, Three Lions International and Carlsbad Wave, where he was Director of Coaching. He has also been a high school coach for 9 years at Escondido High School and San Dieguito Academy, as well as several other high schools in the Los Angeles area. Martyn played in England for the Aston Villa FC youth program, and professionally for Moore Green FC. He has also been a teacher and is currently the owner and head trainer for his own fitness company. Martyn holds a USSF National D license.
Coach Hansford’s purpose as a coach is to develop young men and women to succeed in every aspect of their lives, both physically and academically. His approach develops the psychological as much as the physical, installing the qualities and skill sets required to take individuals to the next level in their training and performance. He encourages a love for the game and a style of play that inspires players to express themselves and create football that is as effective as it is aesthetic.

Coach Hetherington comes to Attack with fifteen years of coaching experience gained at the club and High School levels. He has played professional soccer for 8 years with the San Diego Flash, Atlanta Silverbacks and with the San Diego Sockers.As a player he received a number of honors including MVP, Playmaker of the Year, Fan Favorite and the Fair Play Award.Nate has coached for the Attack for 10 years and has a USSF National “B” Coaching License. He is currently the Assistant Director of Coaching for RSF Attack.
Nate’s goal is to help players achieve their full potential as soccer players by creating a challenging, supportive and positive experience for the athlete. He likes to encourage team building, sportsmanship, confidence, commitment and athleticism in his players.

Coach Jacobs holds a National USSF ‘B’ coaching license and has dedicated over 30 years to coaching youth soccer at both the club and high school level. He has been with Attack for 8 years where he has coached many successful, quality teams and players. His playing experience includes UCSD and the Surf Men’s Premier team.
Coach Jacob’s stated philosophy is, “Soccer if fun. Playing better is more fun. This is Coach Mikes Jones’ fourth season with Attack. Prior to coaching with Attack was with the Encintas Express.
He has also served as a coach for La Costa Canyon High School girls’ JV & Freshman teams since 2003. Coach Mike is a highly professional and dedicated Coach with over 25 years of providing specialized and quality soccer instruction. He holds a USSF “D” license.

Coach Mendoza returns to Attack to coach in our Older girls program. He has coached at the High School level for 20 years – he is currently the Varsity Coach at Canyon Crest Academy. He has also coached at San Dieguito Academy, La Costa Canyon, SDHS and TBS. He has played himself here in San Diego in the Men’s league for more than 43 years.
Ric’s believes that if you work hard you get good results and this is what he teaches all of his teams. He works with his players on skills, both technical and tactical and he feels that conditioning is key to success, so he makes sure that his teams are fit to play!

This will be Charlie’s seventh year with Attack. He has played soccer at the highest level, starting in the Glasgow Celtic youth program and transferring to the pro ranks where he played for many years. He comes to Attack with an extensive coaching background and was previously with the Del Mar Sharks for 9 years.
Charlie’s philosophy is to help each player achieve their own full potential. He does this by creating a fun and challenging atmosphere in his training sessions, guiding each player in the fundamentals of the game. Mikel is new to Attack in 2013, but his coaching career started 5 years ago with his local club, Fallbrook Fury. His most recent experience has been with Carlsbad Lightning and he also has experience as a Personal Trainer working with Speed to Burn.
As a San Diego native, he grew up playing for the Fury, Surf and Nomads. From there he played in the Hungarian 1st Division with Vjpest FC and he also played in Mexico for a brief time with Deportivo Oro in the Mexican 2nd Division. He is currently playing for the San Diego Sockers and on the Mens Beach Soccer US National Team.
Mikel believes in teaching his players by first showing them how it is done. He feels it is important that young soccer players become not just good soccer players, but well-rounded athletes. He feels that the keys to becoming successful, both on and off the field, are team unity, having a positive attitude and good sportsmanship.

This will be Coach Tantillo’s second season with Attack. She has been coaching for 9 years and has been with the Sharks and Nomads. She is currently the Assistant Coach at San Diego Mesa College and the Varsity coach at San Dieguito Academy. She
played at the collegiate level for Pepperdine (Division 1) and Point Loma Nazarene University.
She is a San Diego native and played for FC Bratz growing up. She currently plays for the Sea Lions , a semi-pro team here in San Diego. She has her USSF National D license and will be taking the class for her C license this summer.
Maddie’s goals are to teach the basic technique and skills needed to play at the highest level of soccer. She hopes to bring out a passion and love for the game in all of her players by developing their skills and knowledge. She would also like to show female athletes how to achieve their goals and dreams through hard work and determination.
